ABSTRACT: This study was to determine the impacts of performance appraisal on employee performance in Koboko district health center (DHC). This study has three chapters. Each chapter covers one aspect of the research study. Chapter one: covers the introduction of the study it highlights the variables the objectives and significant of the. Study. For example, of the dependence variables are communication, staff attitudes and reward. Dependence variables motivation commitment and reduced labor turnover. Discussed on chapter one is the background of Koboko DHC. Chapter Two: this chapter highlights the literature review of performance appraisal and theoretical perspective. It highlights view of different authors on performance appraising factors affecting performance. The factors affecting appraisal are identified as communication, staff attitudes and reward system. In chapter two there is also brief highlight on employee performance and the method s of performance appraisal. Chapter three: outlines the methodology of the research study. It specifies questionnaires, research design, and interview and document analysis as instruments used to collect data. Also, the data collection procedures and data analysis. Chapter four: this chapter includes presentation and analysis of the data. The study investigated the impacts of performance appraisal on employee performance in Koboko DHC. Performance appraisal was characterized by effective communication, staff attitude, and reward system. And employee performance was characterized by motivation, commitment, and reduced labor turnover. Xll Chapter five: This chapter consists of the discussion of the results basing on objectives of the study and finding from the field research. It also includes conclusion and recommendations of the study.
